The Benefits of Shiatsu

I first came across Shiatsu while working and living in Ecuador.  Unable to sleep due to severe pain in my back I started looking for something holistic as I had an idea that my stressful job and long working hours had something to do with the discomfort I was experiencing.  Unknown to me at the time I was also struggling with thyroid disease which is something that has had a huge impact upon my life.
Different leads led me to Andrea Martineli an Italian Shiatsu Practitioner living and working in Ecuador.  Andrea specializes in Zen Shiatsu and after just one treatment the benefits I felt were incredible.  Shiatsu brought self awareness of how my lifestyle and career were impacting upon my health and how my health needed all the help it could get.




I continued to go to Andrea for treatments and it was he who suggested that I should train as a Shiatsu practitioner myself as he said he could feel that I was very responsive to the energy treatment and that I could benefit others too.
On my return to the UK it was I was told that I had Hashimoto's Disease which basically meant that my immune system was attacking my own body.  Despite this I went on to study a three year Shiatsu course with the Northern School of Shiatsu in Sheffield.
